Food pantry in memory of Madalena Gomes and Julia Gonsalves Fernandes

  • Angels Anonymous 231 Weaver Street Fall River, MA, 02720 United States (map)

The October Food pantry is in memory of Madelena I. Gomes and Julia Gonsalves.

Julia was the grandmother of our founding pantry chairman Tony Abreu and Madalena was his Aunt.

“Julia was born on Madeira Island, Portugal and emigrated to Fall River in 1989. She was a member of the Esprito Santo Parish, for many years she kept the area surrounding the church and school free of litter and trash. She showed us the importance of pride in ones neighborhood and how it was all our responsibility to keep it clean.

Madalena Gomes was who inspired me to give back to the community with her selfless sprite, she taught us the importance of giving back to the community.

She was very well loved in the Flint area where she lived for over 40 years. She was a devout member of the Esprito Santo church and was involved in many different church organizations including being a CCD teacher for many years. “

Tony Abreu
